As part of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lahore Division (WCCIL), in collaboration with the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) and Bazisto, hosted a powerful awareness event under the theme “End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.”
The event brought together leaders, policymakers, digital experts, and advocates from diverse sectors to highlight the growing challenges women and girls face in digital spaces. Discussions emphasized the urgent need for safe online environments, cybersecurity awareness, legal protection, and institutional support to ensure women can participate confidently and securely in the digital economy.
The session featured inspiring remarks by Ms. Shazia Suleiman, Former President WCCIL, setting the tone for collective responsibility and action. Mr. Abdul Muqim, Assistant Director ANF Lahore, attended as Chief Guest, underscoring the importance of cross-institutional collaboration in addressing digital threats. Empowering messages were delivered by Ms. Falahat Imran, President WCCIL, and Ms. Faiza Nabeel, Senior Vice President WCCIL, reaffirming WCCIL’s commitment to gender inclusion and digital safety.
Valuable insights were also shared by FTO representatives Ms. Samaira Nazir and Mr. Basit Khan, along with Ms. Sidra Humayun from UN Women, who highlighted policy perspectives, reporting mechanisms, and the role of awareness in combating online harassment and abuse.
The event was further strengthened by the participation of partners and stakeholders from Bazisto, the Art & Decor Association of Pakistan (ADAP), and the Pak-Iraq Joint Business Council, reflecting a unified approach across public, private, and civil society sectors.
Through dialogue, awareness, and collaboration, WCCIL and its partners reaffirmed their shared resolve to end digital violence, promote gender equality, and build safer, more inclusive online communities for all women and girls.
